Welcome to the Panna Dolce Newsletter

After many years of hard work Panna Dolce is LIVE! It has been an exciting few years of trial and error, planning, baking and branding, but on December 12, 2009 our website went live and opened for business (just in time for the holidays too).

This monthly newsletter is designed to bring you periodic news, announcements and happenings from around the kitchen. Panna Dolce, A Dream Five Years in the Making

We are the most critical judges of our products at Panna Dolce. When we originally started our journey of making the quintessential French Macaron, we had many many failures… Those in the baking biz know the oven is a fickle jury. Sometimes they came out flat, or too puffy, otherwise they crumbled and oftentimes were too chewy.

In fact, it took 5 years to perfect the recipe and the process. In 2005 the domain name was purchased and we started building a preliminary website. But, our inconsistent product was not one we would be proud selling. We went back to the kitchen. We tinkered, played, and did our homework. Finally, we came up with the perfect French Macaron recipe: tender, delicate and light, yet tough enough to withstand shipment and absolutely visually stunning.

The past five years also gave us time to develop our overloaded cookie concept and our incredible brownies. We have served these cookies to kids, adults and adults who are really kids and the result is the same…AMAZING! Our brownie – The Brownie to End All Brownies – is guaranteed to satisfy your most decadent chocolate cravings with each heavenly bite.

French Macarons, Cookies, and Brownies…Oh My!

Unlike the coconut drop cookies you’re probably thinking about, a French or Italian macaron is surprisingly NOT made from coconuts, and has one less O in the name! These European macarons are made from almonds, eggs, and sugar. Even though there are only three basic ingredients, the process of combining them is an art that takes patience and practice to master. When these three ingredients are combined, they create delicacies with flaky outer shells that have jam, buttercream or chocolate fillings. Panna Dolce has mastered the classic recipe and brings the authentic taste that people have enjoyed for hundreds of years.

French Macarons Take a bite and you’re suddenly in Paris. These are the most scrumptious, chewy delicacies this side of the Champs-Elysees.

Ordering through our website is easy. You can choose any combination of French Macarons, Cookies and Brownies and add them to your cart for secure, simple checkout. We accept all major credit cards and process your order with industry-standard security to make sure your transaction is safe and secure.

We Bake

Each Panna Dolce product is baked to order. We do not bake until you say so. This ensures the freshest possible product and the longest shelf life. We NEVER use preservatives (blech!). We believe that the best tasting products are the freshest possible products. Once we bake, we ship either same-day or next-day so that you don’t have to wait for your goodies. Since we are located in Chicago, residents of our fair city have a pickup/drop-off option. Simply let us know when you want to pick up your products and we will get it to you within 24 hours. It’s that easy!

You Enjoy

All of our products are best enjoyed right away. But we understand if you can’t eat 32 macarons or dozen brownies/cookies in one sitting. Our products typically have a shelf life of one week, a refrigerator life of one to two weeks and freeze perfectly for 3 weeks. Simply let the macarons come to room temperature and enjoy. We highly recommend our cookies and brownies warmed up (or a la mode). Pop a cookie or brownie in the microwave for 5-10 seconds (depending on microwave power) and enjoy your gooey treat.

Tastefully Delicious

Panna Dolce’s pastries are a great find. My wife and I spent a couple weeks in Paris last spring and she became addicted to macarons. Coming back to Chicago we looked all over for authentic tasting macarons – I surprised her by having these delicious macarons delivered to her work. The packaging and the all the fun flavors were a huge hit!! Since then we have expanded to taste some of the other offerings like my favorites the White Chocolate Macadamia Cranberry overloaded cookie and the Toffee Pretzel Peanut Butter Crunch. I am very happy I found this online bakery.
